Currently, all counselling services and therapy sessions are being done virtually. For times when securing an internet connection is difficult, we can arrange for a phone appointment. For regular clients who reside in Renfrew County, some in-person and "walk and talk" sessions may be available. Below is an overview of how virtual services work.
Virtual services just means that all of the regular therapy steps (bookings, form completion, payments, and sessions) happen through online systems. The structure, flow, and content of sessions remain the same. Sessions occur in real-time, and we talk through the use of a video platform. All you need is an internet connection and a quiet, comfortable space. Therapy done virtually is just as effective as in-person therapy.
Virtual therapy is convenient, flexible, private, and comfortable. No need to commute, arrange transportation, or worry about parking. No need to tell others where you're going or to restructure your entire day. Choose times and your location and set-up based on what works best for you. We also get the practical convenience of easily sharing documents and psychoeducation electronically in live time, to enhance our discussions.
The Video Platform
Online counselling is offered using Jane, a secure and private video conferencing platform. The video platform is similar to Zoom or FaceTime. Jane is also the client management system we will both use for sharing documents, completing all paperwork, and scheduling our appointments. You will be given a link to access your client profile.
How it Works
30 minutes before your appointment start time, you will receive an email with a link to access your appointment. As long as you have a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and access to the internet, you will be able to access your appointment. At the start of your appointment, I will let you into the session. I'll always advise you to have your phone on you, in case internet issues requires us to change to a phone session.
